Provincial Logistics, founded by Pierre Le Roux (CEO) in August 2008, began as a small brokerage with just two employees working out of an office in Wellington. By 2010, the company acquired its first vehicle to service its inaugural fixed contract—a contract we continue to honor to this day. Fast forward 14 years, and Provincial Logistics now boasts a well-rounded fleet that offers clients both flexibility and reliability.

In 2012, the company ventured into moving partial and consolidated loads, leading to the rental of a modest 400 sqm warehouse in Wellington. Over time, this space expanded to approximately 3,000 sqm. The company further extended its reach to the Gauteng region in 2014 by securing a storage-only contract.

Recognizing the growing demand for warehousing and distribution services, Pierre’s son, JP Le Roux (Managing Director), seized the opportunity to offer warehousing and flexible distribution services to Provincial’s transport clients. In March 2020, Provincial Logistics officially expanded its Western Cape warehousing facilities to Paarl, increasing total warehouse capacity to 14,000 sqm.

In 2019, JP Le Roux led further expansion efforts in Gauteng, where we now operate a 5,000 sqm warehouse in Kempton Park. This facility manages its own distribution fleet, ranging from small 0.5-ton bakkies to 34-ton link loads.

With significant growth come new opportunities, as well as challenges. In November 2023, it was announced that a team of executives would be appointed to strategically scale the business, provide direction, and assist with collective decision-making.

None of this would have been possible without the loyalty, hard work, and perseverance of both our clients and the Provincial team. Reflecting on the definition of perseverance—“the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition; persistence and tenacity”—I see it as the essence of our team and the Provincial Logistics ethos.

As I look back, I am filled with nostalgia. I recall overcoming numerous obstacles, building lasting relationships, enduring tough times, sharing laughter, working through early mornings and late nights, loading trucks in all weather conditions, meeting deadlines through teamwork, and tackling seemingly impossible projects—all while striving to “Deliver a Service of Excellence.”

As we continue to grow, we acknowledge that new challenges will emerge. As the saying goes, “The highest and mightiest trees face the fiercest winds.” Yet, we are confident that these fierce winds, too, shall pass.
